What are We here for?

The perennial question, what are we here for?

The answer seems fairly obvious to me, we're here to be US. To cultivate, love and thrive, not to judge or diminish.

"The Work" is to bring our unique beings fully to fruition. We're often taught it's more important to be something we're not, to measure up to someone elses' idea of who and what we should be, what makes them happier, rather than finding out who we really are and doing that well. There's a fundamental truth in nature, apples are better at being apples of any sort than they are at being grapefruit. Being ourselves is not only less work and more efficient, it's really the only way to honor the gift of our unique selves that the universe has created. It's both a privilege and a duty. And news flash.. it's easier and more fun.

This is what it means to swim with the current rather than always fighting our way upstream and against the current. It's a simple choice, although often not an easy one. The key to this is that our bodies are actually the final authority. What is good for our bodies is always good for us on every level, this is why I teach embodiment.  Finding the thread of our own personal lives, journeys and purpose can be a daunting task in the beginning but fortunately we have an excellent built in compass and that's the body. Pay attention to what works for it, learn to feel what it wants and that's the doorway to the powerful current.

Start by keeping a mood level journal. Each morning note how you slept, your mood level on a scale of 1-10 (mood level is a subjective evaluation of mood, energy level and general state of well being) and continue through the day noting when you eat and what you feel like after eating. Be honest with yourself, if your stomach aches bit after a big plate of chili cheese fries admit it. There's no penalty here, just simply observing and being honest with yourself about how you feel and when you feel it. Eat exactly what you want when you want to (or whatever version of that is normal for you) and see if there's a trend, maybe even notice if the act of observing changes the patterns. This is a good way of finding the end of your own personal thread to follow

The next part of that answer of what you're here for is your intention. What are you here to do? Are you here to help or to hinder? Pick a moment twice a day when you just pause and ask yourself, "Why am I doing or saying this? What's my intention? Am I trying to help or to hinder? Is it working?".

Welcome to the doorway.
